(6,011 posts)For some reason my first thought was to ask you if the desert smells good after it rains.
This area of California where I live is dry pretty much from May to October and I don't notice many plant smells until it rains.
The foggy coastal areas have wonderful scents from plants in the woods and fields in all seasons.

(55,007 posts)the creosote bushes are the best after a rain, but there are others as well
cresote after rain and seepwillow in wetter drainages are my two favorite desert aromas.

(55,007 posts)I took a couple days to get that. This time of year is "sunset season" the light is good almost every day and as long as there are a few clouds you get grat color. One day I got a few ocotillos in a "regular" sunset pic and I thought "hey yeah, a little different take on the stereotypical saguaro cactus shot"
my back kind of went out on Tuesday and I haven't been able to sit for very long (or do anything else for that matter) for several days, but Friday night I got a call about some cattle on the road - the neighbors HA HA! and had to go take care of it. That got me into the truck so I went ahead and checked some waters and other "patrol" duty" that had been neglected for a few days. The clouds were good and I found a slope I could park on mostly below the ocotillos so I didn't have to get out of the truck. I am real good at lazy!
