Favorite music video

I want to post some of the most creative music videos out there. I mean sure, I could easily post 30 music videos of Led Zeppelin singing live but what's creative about that.

Probably my favorite two music videos are 'Sledgehammer' by Peter Gabriel, 'Sabotage' by Beastie Boys and 'Express Yourself' by Madonna.

THe Beastie Boys was directed by Oscar nominated director Spike Jonze but before he directed such creative movies like 'Being John Malkovich' (oscar-nominated), 'Adaptation' and 'Where the Wild Things Are' he was a creative genius behind some of the most memorable music videos including 'Sabotage', and Fatboy Slim's two memorable Jonze videos 'Praise You' and 'Weapon of Choice' (featuring Christopher Walkens dancing in the hotel lobby). Sabotage had this feel of a bad 70's cop TV show with the 3 beaties wearing bad wigs & mustaches playing the cops.

Madonna's 'Express Yourself' was directed by another Oscar-Nominated director before he was big in movies and that was David Fincher. Before he did movies he was a music video director and also did songs for don Henley, Aerosmith and also did Madonna's 'Vogue'. The video was inspired by Fritz Lang's 1921 classic 'Metropolis'

Most critics find 'Sledgehammer' one of the best creative videos out there (usually 2nd to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'). THe entire video was done with stop-motion and claymation which give the video this kinda jumpy feel to it.

terribly creative or innovative, but captured the mood of the song so well:

Dave Matthews (I am on a DM kick lately), "Gravedigger":

Anyone else in that video would have made it very forgettable.

I think many of us were surprised to find out that Christopher Walkens, a man known to play some really creepy, scary, criminal like roles, was a classical trained dancer.

He nailed the part and probably mainstreamed himself thanks to that and doing SNL.

he's got an original sound, I'll give him that. And he does have some visually interesting videos that I've seen. But I can't get past the voice.
