I got a bullet hole in my roof a dozen years ago on New Years courtesy of some yahoo firing a gun into the sky without considering the trajectory. I heard it hit and though it was a spent rocket: Didn't know till months later it was a bullet hole till my roof leaked.

I do enjoy the hubbub though...........

In the middle of drought-ridden Texas last night in our shabby little neighborhood where the houses are about 5 feet apart, it was like a freaking war zone. Two people across the street who just had their vehicle repossesed were popping crap for hours! Now, tell me , should they have been spending money on firecrackers?

I'm not usually this grumpy, but under these conditions, the fireworks should be left to the professionals! It is not worth someone in the neighborhood losing everything they have for a few seconds of pop and sparkle.

At midnite, I had gunshots going off all around our neighborhood. Welcome to Idiocracy, Arizona where God, Guns and Country is more important than safety.

Before I'm attacked for being anti-gun...mine's loaded and safe. I will not be shooting it into the air to prove to the world I have a large girl-penis.

Crap...sorry for the negativity. HAPPY NEW YEAR and I hope the fireworks were awesome!

Went over to the neighbors house and helped him fire his 4poundr Napolion cannon! 1/2lb of black powde and a big wad of damp newspaper really kicks it! Local Sheriff was there helping!
Good time was had by all with 8 rounds fired!

So, it wouldn't have bothered him. I would've been irritated since I wouldn't have been expecting it and it would've scared the shit outta me. A wad of newspaper probably wouldn't kill me or one of my neighbors. Hopefully, you were all taking safety into consideration, including the safety of neighbors.

On the other hand, if you had invited me over, I would've loved it. 8 times is a little excessive, though. I'd be done at 2 or 3. Cannons are cool shit. I'm still bummed that my son gets out of the Marines in a couple of months and I never got to see a Howitzer go off...except in YouTube videos.

Probably a stupid question, but you never know...a replica? A friend of mine in WI had an old civil war cannon that was still functional, but he refused to fire it. I guess he did one July 4th, but I wasn't there.

with carrage and cassion. Our "subdivision" consists of 50 lots ranging from 5-20 acres each.
8 times is because we kept getting encore requests from the neighbors, cops, and firemen!

He shoots the 500-1000yd matches for rifled cannon. Won a few too!

We keep a 100yd blast area in front and 30yd to each side, all taped and marked. Carrage is wheel tied.

A LOT of fun, no complaints. Sheriff would run his sirene for 15 second before each shot.

Some people like to fire off more than fireworks to bring in the New Year. Suprisingly enough, not a lot of barking dogs.
