besides the whining in the e-mail I just sent you, here is how things went starting at midnight:
The boys and M went out to light off a couple things and I stayed in to pop the cork and watch the pets - Lupe seems to NOT be a gun dog (all the previous dogs I have had were not bothered in the least by gunfire or fireworks, in fact the heeler would try to chase and bite them) well she slipped out the back door and disappeared. Wouldn't come back, wouldn't even come to the truck when I drove down the road a ways (usually have to lock her in the house to keep her from following the truck or going with me)
pitch dark and couldn't find her. went to bed hoping she would show up. daylight, no dog. oh shit. started to get dressed to go drive around and M said oh she is in the truck! (I had left the window down as she sometimes slept in there in the summer if she slipped out the screen door at night and could get back in) I go out to get her and it hits me in the face. Her revenge? She found a skunk while she was out. Cab of the truck was eye-wateringly scented and she was too. arrrrggghhh
