I dodged a bullet.
Five or six years ago, I was contemplating buying a lava lamp. They were $15 and I figured it would be a good dim light for watching TV with. Instead I got some of those saint candles with St. Martin, the Virgin Mary, and some other dudes for a buck each. Looking back, I realize that under the new lightbulb law my lava lamp would be junk. Best $15 I never spent.
