Happy New Year, DU friends! Just back from The Hobbit and nice dinner at a pub

with my wife and youngest daughter. Home in time to watch (for the first time!) Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles, then note the flip of the calendar.

2012 was another year when DU meant a lot to me....a refuge, a haven, a great place in which to experience the election.....thanks to all of you with whom I've interacted throughout my 8 (!!) years here.....

If your 2012 was great, here's to 2013 continuing the trend.

2. The Hobbit

Great movie. We saw it a couple of nights ago, and I can't stop thinking about it. I even went to their website and answered some riddles.

3. I took my 12 y.o. son and 15 y.o. nephew tonight!

We had a great time - the boys loved explaining stuff to me - having read the book much more recently than I.
