to Pigeon Forge for black-eyed peas. New tradition in the last 10 years since they moved south. Before that it was probably a pilgrimage to Good Steer on Long Island.

for New Years Day.

I am convinced the reason for it is that if you eat black-eyed peas on New Years day there is likely nothing worse that can happen to you so it should be a pretty good year.

Oddly enough, I've had better luck in my life when I stopped that tradition. I still like black-eyed peas anytime, though
