on posts, why not let members decide if a post stands or is hidden.

Which is how I voted.
Didn't agree with the post, but it wasn't deemed a 'personal attack'.
OK

I have served on several juries involving alleged personal attacks. Inevitably, the who sub-thread consists of personal attacks, yet only one of them gets called out. I will usually point that out. Unfortunately, the rest of it usually winds up standing, regardless of what the jury decides about the alerted post.

Or (usually) worse.
This was just one of those (IMHO) illogical extensions of an observation by the OP.
Whatever.

I just find it rather funny that "You're a jerk." gets alerted, when "You're a bigger jerk." and "You're a poopyhead." are ignored. That kind of thing makes me miss the moderated threads. Whole subthreads of that kind of crap would be removed back in the old days.

I check to see how things started, and if those in the thread helped to get the INITIAL "jerk" to use the term above, to back off some.

If the members of the thread seem to have fixed the issue, then I vote to let it all stand ... otherewise no.

I took it very seriously and read the entire thread, etc. It made me feel more involved with DU than I have in the past. I think it's a positive change.

I don't quite get the concept behind "hiding" the post but still leaving it for anyone to read. Maybe it's just me and I am exceptionally nosy, but I tend to read ones like that that I come across to see what was hidden. If the rest of you are as lame as me, what's the point of even hiding them? Why not just delete them like in DU2?

and my bet is that everyone peeks too. What is the point??? But I guess there is a good thing about that---you get to see who the asshole is and what the asshole said....and you can decide if you agree with the "hide". And you get to know who the asses are.

Holy crap. I have been on 19 so far, and I am already fed up with it. I am ready to change to "unwilling" so they would leave me alone. I have my doubts still. I don't see it as fair from what I have seen so far, well, at least not all the time.
