...sky scape:

First, you can't make up those shapes and colors; you have to be looking at them (or a damned good photo) while you paint.

Second, just like real clouds, you can see different things in them; that one on the right looks like a puppy jumping!

Awesome.

I would buy that painting, is it for sale?

I would have to ask her. She's out for her swim right now.

Hey! I can see the puppy too! LOL

She is so funny, she always thinks..."it's not any good". I thought maybe by posting it here and on my blog and
when she saw the comments she would get a boost.

I KNOW they are good.

It's a very good rendition of the birds too. I'm an artist too and it's excellent and compelling work. Your wife need to face the fact that she's an artist. I like the use of simple straightforward brushstrokes to give a feeling of intricate and detailed artwork. Her use of layered paint gives the painting a very interesting aura of light and movement, which draws the eyes in to explore.

I like it very much.

Just to say you like the art isn't always enough for an artist to hear. But to say why and how you like it might convince her that she has a technique that is appreciated by people who have an eye for that sort of thing.

Here's one that I particularly like. It's charcoal on vellum. Show it to your wife so she knows I'm not kidding in what I say. She should say it with pride. She's an artist.
