For my birthday I'm giving a present to the Lounge: Pointer Sisters - Yes We Can Can

This is a live cut from '74. Awesome groove, tight band, and man what voices those ladies have.

Side note: The Pointer Sisters did this song as their first live performance for San Francisco's infamous KSAN Jive 95 in 1973. That recording had a much longer intro, but was pretty close to this one. The recording is available on iTunes under "KSAN's Live Jive" if anybody is interested in hearing it.

Just got home from doing a side job. Best part so far was hearing that Pointer Sisters tune from KSAN's archives on the radio driving home. Just had to share it.

Glad you enjoyed the tune. Check out the KSAN Live Jive collection on iTunes. The cut they have is a little superior to this one and the trippy part is that it was the very first time the sisters played live as a formal group. Up until then they had been doing gospel and back-up work.

Cool version, softer approach really made the back up vacals stand out. Good stuff.
