You can do it. I can get in 25 or less 8 of 10. normally 23 or less 5 of 10. under 20 rarely. Sometimes you get a lucky break piece that can open the whole thing up, get you half across the grid in one move.

I just keep hitting random colors and so far the best I've done is to cover about 2/3 of the space.

Pick a far side, and get to it as efficiently as possible.

Dont feel bad. It took me like three games to figure out that I was starting in the corner, and that there was a goal.

Instead of just random hits on different colors, I am finally looking at the puzzle to see which colors are on the edge and to proceed from there.

I've managed to cover about 90% of the damn thing now!

Not all the time, though...

I appreciate your help!

don't worry about filling in every square. Just click on the colors that will gerrymander your group the most. Eventually you'll wipeout huge sections very quickly.

I usually look ahead to see how to I can get a pseudopod to the bottom of the grid in as few colors as possible first. If there are multiple ways this might happen, I look to see which also let me extend a pseudopod to the right side as well.

Not with a real curse but with one of those; spill your drink on your shirt or internet access goes out for 5 minutes, kinda of curses.

On each move, the square in the upper left corner and any contiguous squares of the same color change(s) to the color you select. That is the only rule of the game. The opening position is a random assignment of colors to all 196 squares.

The opening strategy is to reach down and to the right in the fewest possible moves. The endgame strategy is to expose squares of all colors, and then use up all the colors.

Long jagged groups of the same color are your friends. Single squares surrounded by squares of other colors are your enemies. The proportions of friends and enemies in the opening position is a matter of luck.

My best score so far is 20.

17, I expect, nay DEMAND that you come back and rub it in my face.

Ive gotten a few 18's over the past few months when I occasionally play. But that 17 was, as best I can remember, the best ever for me.
