Hitting the big six-oh wasn't that big a deal for me.

I had a much harder time turning 21, then again at 30.

I guess it takes getting older to realize that having an age crisis is pretty much a waste of time.

Age stopped meaning much to me once I hit 50 and found the most wonderful years of my life were ahead of me.

Still 17 in my head, my body does not agree nor does that old hag who follows me around and shows up in my mirror. HATE her, lol. Not really, I earned those wrinkles and had fun getting them.

Onward we go NGU, I will be kicking and screaming all the way till I draw my last breath. A life lived, maybe not always well, but lived.

I only realize it when I look at my daughters in their 30s and realize that they are the age that I feel. And then I look at my sons who are in their 20s and realize that they are the age that I act.

I grew up while I was in "parent" mode and had to set a good example, be responsible, and all that good stuff, but now I've reverted to the real me.

Tue Mar 12, 2013, 08:38 PM
Mar 2013

I stopped giving a shit about how old I am around my
50th birthday.
It was around that time that I had a birthday cake with
50 candles in it and when they were lit, it looked like
a fracken forest fire; it set off the kitchen smoke alarm.
So now I don't keep track of that stuff.
I remember when I was around 8 years old, that my
birthday seemed to come around every 3 years or so.
Now my birthday comes around every 4 months and
I just don't care.
It's now like I'm in denial about it or anything like that.
It doesn't bother me at all that I'm an old fart who
does nothing but complain about how things are now and
how much better they used to be way back when.
Things are so crazy that if Barry Goldwater,
(Barry FUCKING Goldwater!!) were around today,
the tea party would be calling him a Liberal!

Wed Mar 13, 2013, 10:34 AM
Mar 2013

Oh wait, this isn't a job interview?

I actually had an ancient old senior partner at Bass Berry & Sims in Nashville (he had to be at least 125) ask me that when I got out of law school. "How old ARE you, anyway?" And that was my answer. Old enough to konw yhou can't ask me that. He about sh*t his pants ... I didn't get the job, but I knew once he asked me the question, I wasn't going to get it anyway, so I decidedto f*ck with him a little bit. He said, "Oh, no, I just want to know if you have the legs to keep up with the young folks." I said, "That's WHY you can't ask me that question."

And we ended the interview. I never heard from them again.

And for the record, I ain't sayin'!

Talk about depressing! On this site I'm old.

I'm feeling another milestone here.

I'm 65, and I fought that mad, bad war (Hackworth's term). My grey hair came early in life, from way too many air combat missions on Uncle Ho's Trail. Hang brother, there are too few of us left and we need to tell the story.

hang in there.

We diminish by the day.

MOS: 67A1F.

Then they saw my shooting score. So I got promoted:

Tower guard in a 40 foot tower with with a really nice scope on an M-14.

Apparently, if I could see it, I could shoot it.

The last, best hope before the Hai Van pass.

From what I hear, these days it's a great vacation destination, what with all the beach and shit.

Hold fast, brother, hold fast.

Feel much younger, but look older!

I thought I was 57 for about 6 months until my brain caught up with me!

I have no lines or wrinkles yet, but my skin was definitely getting a little rougher with age. After two weeks, it smoothed and evened out admirably. It was a good investment =)

going on 32.

There's a lost decade somewhere. I haven't quite achieved what I should have.

I don't blame the economy for that, although it doesn't help.

and retired at age 55, as most Canadians retire between 55 and 60 and can receive Canada Pension (like US Social Security) at age 60, as well as Old Age Security Pension over and above Canada Pension at age 65.

born in 1962. I get confused as to whether I am classified as a Baby Boomer or not. Some lists say yes some say no.

We did have the largest graduating class ever to go through our highschool at least at that point.

I sure relate more to Baby Boomers though than Gen Xers.

(I like the idea of being a baby boomer but I think the cut off year was 1960 and you're too young.)

just wish I knew now what I knew then... or, the other way around... ?
