(30,947 posts)and when it is very cold, my hair flies everywhere. It takes a lot of hair spray to tame it.

(30,947 posts)It just gives the hair more body and makes it more manageable. Believe me, I was a wig stylist for years and most new wigs have very fine hair.

At the playground down the street kids get a painful zap as they leave the bottom of the plastic slide.

(12,272 posts)It coats the cuticle and weighs down the strands and adds shine in the process. PS, I envy your hair and your eyes, though this is no affront, as hair envy is, well, you know . . .

(21,858 posts)don't wear polyester and you can use a dryer sheet - rub it on your brush (it's overkill if you wipe your hair with it, but you can try)

My hair is color-treated and it only looks good until the first shampoo. After that, it's dull, dry, and fly-away.
snagglepuss
(12,704 posts)cheapo refined coconut oil ( forget any hype about extra virgin coconut oil, I've tried it and the cheapo refined is actually better) Before washing your hair rub the oil on your hair, no need to let it absorb other than standing under a hot shower for a few minutes, then skip the shampoo and just condition. For the next few days just use conditioner. Depending on your hair you can also just rub a wee bit of oil into your hair and not shower. I now use shampoo only once or twice a month and like you I have hair that is next to unmanageable.

(1,814 posts)...to try to tame this. I think I finally have the solution. But it's still a combination of things, a conditioner, some gel, some anti-frizz sealant....otherwise it can end up a bale of hay.

(4,475 posts)I have fine, straight blond hair, and lots of it. I was a walking electricity generator from December to March.
Then my stylist turned me onto Sebastian shampoo & conditioner. I buy it from Amazon by the liter during the winter. I use the "Volupt" variety for the shampoo and the "Drench" variety for the conditioner. Not only does it smell awesome and make my hair "big" (in a good way), I never have static anymore. It's a bit pricey, but completely worth it not to go around looking like I stuck my finger in a socket.
I can't use it during the summer, though. It's too heavy and makes my hair limp in hot and humid weather. I go back to the "drying" store brands during the summer.
