I've taken four adavan's and four hydrocodones...nothing.

1. What is the strength of the meds?
Hi backwoodsbob,
I take 2 (40 mg) oxycodones per day, plus 4 (15 mg) oxycontins break through pain pills every day. It's always about strength of the active ingredient. Seems like you are not getting a strong enough dose? If you are a drinker of alcohol? It helps to boost the effect. Be careful though, don't mix and match to much. I am a cancer patient, have lots of aches and pains. The best chronic pain relief I have found is pot. I had not smoked that stuff in almost 25 years, then when the cancer hit, I was reluctant to start using it again for fear of wanting all that other stuff. It did not happen. The pain is very manageable and I told my doctor. The pot also helps with sleep and appetite. Best stuff god ever made. Of course living in California is a bonus too. Peace. ![]() |

4. That is a tough nut to crack there.
I do not know what state you live in, but they are not all created equal. Then company policy always seems negative towards cannabis treatments for valid medical malady's. Ask your doc for a pill form of THC? or whatever they use. I have never taken a clinical pot pill before, so I am no expert on what is offered over the counter by big pharma, but maybe there is something the doctor has? Good luck Bob, I hope things work out for you. Peace.

3. I'm sorry, I know you're hurting.
Please be careful mixing drugs, and especially mixing them with alcohol.
I have a chronic pain issue, smoke pot maybe twice a month, if that. I don't know if that is available to you, but it always helps me sleep. |

5. Oh, another trick I use from time to time
to help me sleep.
![]() from:http://simplybagrat.blogspot.com/2010/11/number-game.html But I try to use something other than sheep sometimes, seems to help. Could become a distraction though. I like them when their young and wet. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . What were YOU thinking? Good night sir. ![]() Peace. ![]() |

6. Bob remember the doctors work for you -you're the patient.
before you self medicate (please don't) tell your docs that the meds aren't giving you enough pain relief
careful with the adavan they take forever to kick in -- they gave them to me for the cancer because they are afraid to prescribe valium which works faster but people tend to abuse them because they act fast. tell them the adavans aren't cutting it . |
