Is 'Ender's Game' finally going to hit the silver screen?

When "Ender's Game" hit bookshelves back in 1985, fans of the eventual series started asking themselves, "When are they going to make this into a movie?" Rumors of a film adaptation have circulated since then, and multiple attempts to get the project off the ground have collapsed, many of which included the book's author, Orson Scott Card, as screenwriter.

Recently, several sources, including an article from "Variety," have confirmed that not only is the film officially slated for 2013, but that "Indiana Jones" star Harrison Ford, "Little Miss Sunshine" Abigail Breslin, "True Grit" sensation Hailee Steinfeld, and Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley are just a few of the big names attached to the project.

"Ford will play Colonel Hyram Graff, who's in charge of training young military recruits" Jeff Sneider of "Variety" reports. "Breslin will play Valentine Wiggin, Ender's older sister, while Steinfeld plays Petra Arkanian, Ender's trusted right hand."

Not sure if this will actually happen, but it would be great if they can pull it off.

I just read his Wikipedia entry.

He's a homophobe, creationist, and Newt Gingrich groupie.

Back when I read Ender's Game, the top review on Amazon was by Orson Scott Card himself. He was flaming all the other reviewers who had criticized his writing. So lame. I can't find it now.

FWIW, I really enjoyed Ender's Game.

ON EDIT: Just went and read his Wikipedia page. Now I'm ashamed I liked the book.

material written by that homophobic jerk. I won't be reading, let alone buying, any of his stuff. And I won't be seeing the movie.

I could understand picketing it.

... a screenplay that would be made today that would be true to the feel of the original. Society is way to touchy feely everyone is a winner for this.

don't do anything to support that crass rightwing nutjob.

Not to mention - if you really stop and think about it - Ender is quite the little creep.

OSC has a christ complex who says - don't make me hurt you and then finds excuses to take it to the hilt in "hurting you" .

NOT NOT NOT a good book. A horrible life lesson. Please dear god (and I don't believe in god) do NOT let them make this into a movie to screw up more impressionable kids (and adults).

No, not really but I'd pick up a book and it would be Ender's Game...pretty cool. The next one would be some SCREAMING Mormon thing...back to sci-fi, back to SCREAMING Mormon. I felt like I was in some sci-fi horror movie just waiting for the Book of Mormon to jump out of the closet.

I couldn't take it after a while.
