So let me get this straight - for years Paula Deen encouraged us to eat food bad for us

She would cook with sticks of butter, pounds of lard and boatloads of salt.

Now she wants us to buy the same type 2 diabetes medicine she uses.

Really?

If I ran whatever network this woman was cooking on I would toss her off like yesterday's dirty undergarments.

So? I wouldn't want "altered" Paula Deen recipes anyway. That would defeat the whole purpose. nomorenomore08 Jan 2012 #7

Because if you were running some network with her show on it, all you'd care about is how much money her show brought in

I am pissed that this is the way she chose to go. I would be happier if the three year delay in announcing her diabetes had been used to re-work her trademark recipes either for her son's new cooking show or for a new series for herself. She could have been a wonderful force to help people in this country control their diabetes and weight.

But she's sold out to the pharmaceutical companies. Maybe her son will be changing her recipes around to be healthier, but that was not the focus of her announcement last week.

Maybe I will sit down and write letters to Paula Deen and to the Food Network telling them what I think about this. And explaining why I will NOT be watching any show with a Deen family member in it any time soon.

that she was going to go on all the yakker shows about her Dx and I predicted that she was going to turn it into a new venue/cash cow.

But, really, the most despicable (to use the Grinch's word) thing was that she KNEW the Dx THREE years before and kept on with her b.s.

When she was crying on ABC last week, the hypocrisy was stunning. A cynic might say that she exhausted the profit potential from the butter-bacon-blubber shtick and now will profit from her illness.

Honestly, she should retire and take care of herself. She doesn't look well.
