Pet Peeve/Rant: Chatting up the checkout clerk.

Uh...buddy?
When there are customers behind you in line it's really not good to get into an extended conversation with the checkout clerk.

Some of us have people to see, places to go.
Even if we don't, we don't like waiting for you to go on and on about whatever it is you feel you just MUST discuss. Step aside and let us do some business.
We just stopped in for a cup of coffee after we'd already paid-at-the-pump for the gas.

Not that I haven't had a chat with a convenience store employee manning the cash register.
Sure I have.
But just when I was the only one getting checked out.

Now...I will admit that your conversation was fascinating
From what I could gather it concerned a mutual acquaintance who the police were looking for in connection with operating a meth lab.
And he had just recently filled out an application for a job at this convenience store.
I don't wish to add to the fellow's problems, but please forgive me if I say I hope he is turned down.

I know, I know...meth makers/dealers need love too, but I really hope he doesn't get a job here.
