He has a tart view of humanity, but he is still very humane in his outlook.

Plus, he has his bawdy side, as we all know. I guess he figures anyone who can deep-throat a corn dog the way she does can't be all bad...

I couldn't take hearing her grating voice during the debates. She did have some good smack-downs of Rick Perry though.

less relevant in context. The meaning of 'protest' in this instance is, "to proclaim". As in: "I protest my innocence." One is not denying one's innocence, but proclaiming it. Same thing.

One thing I love about Shakespeare; there are as many textual layers as an onion...
