Do people even pay attention to 'No Solicitation' signs anymore?

Really

That's what the sign says

Whatever you are selling I do NOT want to purchase.

Worse 99.99999% of the knocks I get early in the morning on my door is for me to attend some new church in the neighborhood. It seems wherever there is an abandoned building it's a prime location for a new church. What's funny, the old campaign HQ we had for Chris Coons in 2010 is now a church.

How do I make these people go AWAY!

1. If they don't pay attention to the signs or the gate, a taser is always effective.

Once the dogs have licked 'em back to consciousness, unwelcome sales people usually leave in great haste.

If not, repeat.

My dog would not bite, but she sure as hell acts like she would--and she does NOT like strangers at the door (nor approaching the car). Female dogs are particularly protective, I've found. And those approaching the door will know before the hit the "stoop," that they need to keep going--and saves me from having any of those ugly block print signs on the door.

But, no... I doubt they pay any more attention than they do to the "no call" lists--given that I KEEP getting solicitation calls on my cell phone.

I went from having no telemarketers call ( excepting charities and such ) to an an explosive rise. Unbelievable. 4 or 5 a day, sometimes more. Really disturbs the peace to have the jarring ring go off seemingly right at the moment I'm in deep thought or busy with something.

Funny, when I got my 1st place after moving out of my parents house at about 22, I remember getting my first phone. For awhile there, whenever it rang, I'd be nearly excited, thinking "Wow, I wonder who that is?".

Anymore, when it rings, I sigh or groan loudly, thinking, "Awww, who the %&*(%$# could that be?"

I get a bit "world weary" sometimes.

9. All those signs would keep English and Welsh lawyers away!

General lawyers in England and Wales are called Solicitors.

A different way would be "We don't answer the door to strangers."

So if the church recruiters come on by you can see that you do not know them and keep the door shut. No open door? They will go away.
