and it seems like they make 5 shows a year and repeat them every other week .I think the talent is good but the producer should have been put out to pasture 30 years ago but he is too big and rich to fail so the show sucks because he owns it.

we are just wise (okay we are old and wise )

very stupid...but funny. my daughter and can't stop laughing the next day about some of the lines, eye rolls, facial expressions, names of the freeways, exits and streets, & roads. but then, we know people who live that scene - which makes it hilarious.

it will be interesting to see the transition with some of my favs leaving: armisen, meyers, etc.

Yes... I think the show will be even worse without those veterans. But I guess new ones will take their places, just like previous turnovers.

in cali who are that shallow and speak the same way :snort: it's either from the heat & fumes rising up from the freeway asphalt or brain damage from toxic bleaching and tanning agents.

Maybe...I'm a 1953 model.
Yeah,SCTV was the best!!!...I watched SNL IF I was home, because nothing better was on the other TWO channels. But yeah, before Carvey and company left I'd had my fill. The times I've caught 2-3 minutes here or there,in the years since, were 2-3 minutes wasted...Every time.
It's probably still funny and hip if you're high school-college age.

I never watched much of the Carvey period, in fact, looking at the history of the show, I quit watching regularly about the time Lorne Michaels left (1980).

I'm not sure why they got cautious but they seem to have swapped timely satire for creating ongoing, often unsuccessful characters for the players, as if they're throwing them at the wall in the hope of finding some that stick.

I like some of the musical acts as well, but often not.

So maybe I'm half old.

I'm 35 going on 100. And for a while now the show itself sucked. But I always got a smile out of the Weekend update. That it till recently. Since the start of this season, it is blah.
