can someone suddenly become lactose intolerant?

I've eaten diary all my life. I had cereal with milk today and now my stomach is cramping up like crazy.

My Dad became lactose intolerant but I don't know if it happen because of other factors in his life.

My only issue has been diabetes but right now I don't even want to look at milk again.

Maybe you need to poop. n/t Lil Missy Jun 2013 #1
did that already. That's not the issue. Thanks for checking out the thread diabeticman Jun 2013 #2
I would suggest not eating books. The ink and chemicals in the paper will mess with you. j/k madinmaryland Jun 2013 #3

It just maybe because it was written with a gel pen. Those I've heard aren't very digestible.

Lactase any more, or very limited amounts. Or maybe there's another reason. Perhaps you should ask your doctor before this thread gets locked.

Relax. See if it keeps happening. All sorts of factors can cause cramping.

#1 If it keeps happening, see your doctor.

But as others advised, you should check with your doctor.

There could also be a genetic component.

I went to a number of doctors and was told I had irritable bowel syndrome. Nothing helped.
This was back in the 1970s when lactose intolerance was not well known. There was no problem when I was younger.

Finally, some time in my early 30s, after years of misery, I read an article in a magazine and realized that I had the symptoms lactose intolerance.

Imagine my joy when Lact-Aid and other lactase enzyme products became available and I could eat a slice of pizza or a bowl of cereal without experiencing hours of cramping, pain and diarrhea.

My younger daughter also developed lactose intolerance in her early 20s.

We buy lactase enzyme tablets at Costco because they are less expensive than the ones sold in drugstores.

If you have lactose intolerance and find yourself suddenly developing symptoms (from eating a dairy product and forgetting to take a lactase tablet), immediately take two lactase enzyme tables as directed and it may help.

Good luck!
