My son has orientation today and I'm sneaking time off one of the school's computers to elude the endless drone of administrators.
I must log off before they rescind his admission.

(82,333 posts)I saw a few parents gesticulating and not in a nice way.

(8,492 posts)I love the visual of a couple of stuffy, cranky, Conservative parents fretting over the obvious brainwashing that is available on the school's computers.
You get a gold star for today.

I highly recommend the Creative Writing folks there. If Chris Buckley is still
there, he's the BEST poetry teacher ever -- even if he resents HAVING to do
ir in order to pay the mortgage. Also and especially Teddy West, though I
suspect she's no longer there.

(82,333 posts)Especially how to get out of there by public transportation. We ran into the storm on the way back and it took more than five hours.
Much as I love my son, I'm not looking forward to that trip. One thing I found out is that West Chester is part of SEPTA so he can take a train or bus into Philadelphia, take the Train to Newark, NJ, then the train to Port Jervis, NY where I can pick him up. As Mr.Rogers once said, "Better him than me."

(20,176 posts)that's going to be a rough train ride. It's not as bad as Newark, DE to Waterbury, CT (7 hours) but it's pretty bad...probably close to 5.5 hours vs. <3 driving.

3 people driving from West Chester to Milford x 3 hours = 9 hours
6 < 15 = he's SOL.
I foresee 1 year of whining, followed by 1 year of negotiation followed by 2 years of abject resignation.
This may be the last year he gives me a Father's Day present.
