Even "serious" musicians have a sense of humor. This shows up, for example, as quotations from other pieces of music. Sometimes these are obvious, sometimes subtle. An obvious one is contained (starting at 1:51) in this piece by Shostakovich:
There is a slightly less obvious quotation (starting immediately) in this piece by Mahler:
This sort of thing is even more common in jazz than in classical music. For example, there is a very brief quotation at the end of this piece:

Ah, those are certainly very diverse pieces of music. I heard, and recognized, all the quotations, though I cannot name them!

I'm glad you liked the music. But it's not as diverse as it could be. There might also be quotations in other genres, like rock, that I am not very familiar with.
