Let's just reboot the entire franchise!

(oh yes...remember the episodes where he got an artificial heart as a cadet?)

or was it just Tapestry? Something about pulling a thread of his life, unraveling everything.

So who plays Picard in the reboot?

ETA: Now BBCA is showing Time's Arrow. Must be a best-of TNG marathon for Father's Day or something. Time's Arrow had one of the best Mark Twains I've seen:

TNG is pretty good when you just watch the good episodes.

That is a good Mark Twain performance (too bad Hal Holbrook wasn't considered though)...so often I would await TNG episodes and it was so iffy which were good and not so good but there were enough good ones to remember.

As far as the new Picard in the reboot...I have no idea, are there any young bald actors with Shakespearian voices out there who might fit the bill?

to the point where one wonders if someone is portraying Twain or Holbrook. I did not know this:

Jerry Hardin plays the role of Samuel Clemens which is the real name of the writer Mark Twain. He can also be seen as Radue in TNG: "When The Bough Breaks" and as Dr. Neria in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Emanations". According to the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, Hardin had never played Twain before, but became so enamored with the character after these two episodes that he created a one-man touring show about him.

such wonderful music. I really don't know the title for this music, but I think it should be entitled "Eulogy"

Found this...

Jay Chattaway composed the music for this episode, including the Ressikan flute solo played by Kamin and Picard. Chattaway later expanded this piece into a six-minute orchestral suite that is available on "The Best of Star Trek: 30th Anniversary Special" soundtrack CD. The Ressikan melody has similarities to the Scottish tune 'Skye Boat Song', also known as 'Speed Bonny Boat'.

The conclusion always wipes me out. Picard playing that gentle music (I think it's a lullaby) and the thrum of the Enterprise's engines in the background.

My favorite ST: TNG episode of the entire series. Probably my favorite of ANY Star Trek series.

When it first aired, at the end when Picard breaks down, I cried too. The idea of living an entire other life in the span of a few minutes and being left with the loss of everything you thought you loved was a little too much for my even 17 year old mind.

Definitely Star Trek at its greatest.

To break the mood: My second favorite is Conundrum. Riker scores 2 (possibly 3) times that ep, different girl every time, all of them his subordinates Classic Riker.

Perhaps the best way to describe Picard's ability to deal with "God-like" status is the episode, "Who Watches the Watchers", where the prime directive is violated with the race who is being "watched".

I think Picard says something like, "my people, too, once lived in caves.." It's a perfect philosophy of what the entire human experience should be taught, based on the evolution I have wished would exist.... and still do.

Hail, the PICARD!
