I'm engayged!

Tonight was the 11 year anniversary of our being together. I told him "Oh, let's not make a deal out of it. Let's just go out to dinner."

We did. Had a fantastic dinner. We came home, and I gave him a very small gift (a video game he wanted.) He gave me a very small gift - a jewelry box. It's a beautiful, simple gold band. He said it's his promise to marry me when Prop 8 is overturned.

I was verklempt for quite a while. And now I feel like a schmuck for getting him such a crappy anniversary present.

11 years together is a big deal- they say that most relationships that make it past the initial 10 years are solid. There is no substitute for taking on this life as a team with the one you love. Working together to achieve common goals and support individual initiative is the stuff of dreams when your team mate is the one you love with all your being. You are fortunate to have found one another in this great big world- hold on tight and treat it like gold- it is the most valuable thing you will ever have or experience.
Indeed- love, it makes the world go round! True love is more valuable than diamonds- enjoy your wealth!

you still have to buy him a ring. He's going to get a ring AND a video game. You're only getting a ring. LOL. That is a cool thing about the heinous gay marriage laws being overturned. A lot of couples who have been together for years will be newlyweds. Not to mention a honeymoon!!!

You obviously love each other very much! That IS the gift you give each other!!! And as a nerd who loves gaming I can tell you a game we are anticipating is more than it might seem like. Zelda and Mario, and their respective games, are as nostalgic and important to me as an keepsake from times long past.

Congratulations of course!!

Don't feel like a schmuck. Nothing you could have given him would have been that grand, unless it was another jewelry box. I bet he's a happy man!

obviously you are no schmuck - and your apparent "cluelessness" helped make his surprise even better - it was all good, trust me
