I am officially OLD.

I picked up my first pair of glasses today. I've had perfect vision my whole life, until now. Now I look smart. I'm not necessarily actually smart, but I look the part. Maybe I can fool some people that way. LOL.

But I went whole-hog. Most people just get a little near-sighted as they age, but I've apparently lost it on both ends. So I got progressive bifocals. And it's been hard to adjust. Reading and computer stuff are much better, but things get all distorted when I move my head too fast. I was getting a little ill as the day went on. But they did say it might take a few days or a week to adjust.

No biggie. so many folks wear glasses. That's what happens to the human body. Not much we can do about it. You're still alive, aren't you? So stop worrying about the glasses and continue living.

I wear them all them time, but I don't really need them for more than reading at this point. They are slightly corrective for distance vision, though, and things appear sharper to me with them on. I probably wouldn't wear them all the time if didn't need to read so much. Might as well just leave them on.

I never cared for contacts so I just stuck with the glasses.

You see okay with glasses now, I hope?

My parents sent all of us to preschool three mornings each week. The school started having discipline problems with me, and the owner suggested that my parents have my vision and hearing checked. Bingo! I was so far-sighted that I could see a mile down the road but not my hand in front of my face.

I have other issues with my eyes, so I'm not a good candidate for contacts. I can function without glasses as long as I'm not trying to do something really close, like needlework. But I see much better with them.

.
.
.

I had progressive trifocals previously, found I was stumbling without even having one drink.

Took me a while to figure out my body/brain wouldn't communicate fast enough when I looked down to see where my feet were going - I walk around the bush a lot so I'm rarely on level ground.

New glasses are a single prescription - no more stumbling.

I am near-sighted, so have to take my glasses off to enter PINs for my debit cards, or to read.

Even to look at the shelves in a store, glasses have to come off - but it's worth it to me to not have that stumbling issue.

Back pain disappeared also, I was constantly tilting my head/neck to achieve the different focus I wanted.

Now I just take my glasses off - body is happy.

Now of course I'm both nearsighted and farsighted. Nothing is exactly right. Wanna hear about my joints?

I tried them once and after falling a few times while wearing them I put them away. I now have 2 pairs of glasses...one for reading and one for looking and I hang the one I'm not using on my shirt collar and I'm fine. The glasses are
from my local drug store and they work just fine.

BTW, "old" is a state of mind.

I haven't tried the stairs yet. Everything still looks too weird that I only wear them while reading or at the computer.

I lose my depth perception going down the stairs and have a lot of trouble gauging when I can stop stepping. But outside of that I love my bi-focals. I can tie my own fish hooks, read fine print, etc. I don't feel old in the least with them. Rather, they make me feel liberated and young again because I can see it all again.

Old? Hey, I own fossils of animals that used to be my house pets. Let me tell you about old!
