It's in morning dress. Cravat, bow tie, or straight tie? The cravat has the advantage of allowing a pin that matches her saree. But I fear that crosses the line between "morning dress" and "period costume".
Thoughts?
Also, we're on a boat, which to me mandates light shoes, but morning dress mandates black. Suggestions?

(66,099 posts)and you're worried that it's the cravat that spells 'period costume'?
Better go with the bow tie for a morning outfit. But why not a cravat? If there's one time you should be allowed a little sartorial elegance, it's a wedding, right?

(66,099 posts)I own a Hindi-style suit that I picked up at a Pakistani clothier in Vancouver, B.C. It's got a brocade, high-gorge vest, and a Nehru-collar suit jacket. It's cool. If I were going to your wedding, that's what I'd wear.
Enjoy.

(20,176 posts)Never wear black on a boat, you'll sweat through in minutes and look like hell. Nobody ever thinks of it but boats are on water and water in the late AM means you're standing on a platform (the boat) sitting on the surface of a vast refractive mirror. (the sea)
I might not go all-white because that will make you look like a Miami coke-dealer in your wedding pics but you might want to consider lighter colors with accents to match your wedding colors, bridesmade dresses and her bouquet.
Personally I like the straight tie but that's because I'm an iconoclast. I'd never wear a cravat but that's because I think they look stupid.
Ultimately, it's your wedding...what do you think? What does she think?
