typing from a hospital in SF. Doc says I have heart problems. I am hooked up to every machine in the place. Don't know when I will Note: you know you are in trouble when they upgrade you to better pajamas and a room with a view. Can't go into details but it will involve some scary procedures, give me strength MFM!!

This may be the best thing I can tell you. The scary procedures? To the doctors and surgical teams,
they are so routine that they are like auto mechanics changing your oil. Not formidable to them at
all -- so much so that right before my most concerning surgery (the heart valve replacement) --
RIGHT before I went out from the anesthesia, I got the team's attention and reminded them that,
although it was just another procedure to them, it was MY one and only heart and that I hoped
they thought about that when they were working their magic.
.
I also sang them The Beatles' short little ditty, "Her Majesty", from start-to-finish. The drugs had
started to really kick in.
.
I won't say there's nothing to be scared about.
.
Except there really isn't -- OK, OK, just a teeny-tiny bit is justified.
.
You are going to be fine.
.
Trust me. I've become an expert at this.
.
.
There are all sorts of attractive nurses of all kinds, so whatever you do, don't forget you have the
RIGHT to request tagteam bedbaths.

Also, I'm SO glad you have Intertubes access. Contact with the people here really was a major

(54,302 posts)Once when a cardiologist said get your ass to the hospital NOW. As in IMMEDIATELY.
Turns out he was right. I might have been dead the next day. Two arteries 99% clogged.
The second time it was a heart attack for real. But I came through that, too.
So will you. Get out of there alive. Worry about the paperwork later.

(29,098 posts)I spent the better part of a week in intensive care 20 years ago. Had a serious arrhythmia diagnosed. I had all sorts of stuff done including an ablation where they shocked my heart several times. Scary stuff. Twenty years later I'm just fine and take just one little beta blocker a day to keep me on an even keel.
It's scary when you find something is wrong with a vital organ...I hope your issue is as easy to manage in the long run.

Try not to read too much in the facial expressions of the doctors and nurses if you're not getting any information. The nurse probably had a fight with her boyfriend that morning and isn't giving you pitying looks.
Hang in there!

I found this cute Origami card by 'googling' Japanese get well cards. The young woman who made it apologized that it says, "Getting Well", instead of "Get Well", but getting well is a process, so I think it's ok~!

Otherwise I'm afraid they might want to take pictures of your blood vessels or give you medications or do other hospital stuff

(6,154 posts)Let us know what the Docs say! Remember heart trouble doesn't necessarily mean anything serious. There are many arrhythmia disorders that are scary that don't mean much serious. My father had to have a pace maker installed at 60 when he had a number of scary flat line incidents after getting back from a holiday. After the pacemaker he was good as new and life was back to normal almost immediately.
Hugs!
