Advice?

Our home up north was broken into last week. I won't go into details but it was a neighbors kid Who decided to break in and "live" and hang out there partying until his parents found out where he was spending all his free time. He is underage. The whole thing is a nightmare. The neighbor who lives the closest to us and had to have seen what was going on never told anyone. When I called and asked them about it yesterday they were rather rude and curt. They are an ultra conservative couple and don't like us because our politics differ.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a website or have suggestions how to perhaps web cam our home inside and/or out. We want to keep the cost down as we don't have money to blow. I have a old pc and a new Mac desktop. We are NOT high tech savvy so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Will be heading to work in a few minutes so I won't be able to respond until tonight. Thanks in advance.

I know of better and more sophisticated ways to do home-monitoring but if you're just looking for quick, cheap and easy, this will suffice.

The place where hubby works upgraded their system and were going to throw out the DVRs from the old setup. Hubby is a scavenger and brought home the old DVRs. They are designed to record multiple camera feeds.

One of them is an ADT-402e and will record four camera feeds at once. I'm not sure what the other one is - it's upstairs and I'll have to get hubby to bring it down. ETA - hubby says the other is for eight cameras. He's bringing it downstairs later.

If you're interested, I'd ship them to you for just the cost of shipping (and he works for a shipping company so he gets a discount). We don't need them, they're just taking up space. We just didn't want to throw out equipment someone could use.

So far as hubby knows, the system was working until it was replaced with a newer setup. All we have are the DVRs, though - no cameras.

PM me if interested.

cameras taking pix of the next break-in may bring "justice" but in my opinion prevention would be a better place to focus resources...
