(36,286 posts)Did I mention the fresh peaches for dessert?
I live a 3 minute walk from an honest to goodness farm stand, so I live on fresh produce all summer!

(2,667 posts)Although I am not very picky in my eating habits I do love fresh produce, particularly when we are the one's who produce it. If not for the nutrition and health benefits then the taste alone should be enough for anyone to want as much of the fresh stuff as they can get. No one ever did the wrong thing by eating a fresh peach. We've got apple and pear trees along with a small grape arbor and of course the gardens (separate flower, herb, and vegetable). We also keep semi-permanent patches of strawberries, horseradish, and asparagus; things that you plant once and harvest from for several years before moving to a fresh plot. I do the grunt work at my wife's direction and she takes care of the more demanding attention demanding aspects the gardening. Ya just gotta love it.

(50,549 posts)If you've got Johnston County Hams country cured bacon, you really suck.
For Cudahy Bar-S bacon, suitable for cooking with, you do not suck.

(6,996 posts)I mostly use Iceberg when available but in a pinch I have
put Romaine on my BLT (cutting out the tough part of the rib.)
Crispy and delicate compared to the strong flavors
of the bacon & Mayo.
