What are you drinking at this moment?

If it does not have alcohol in it I don't want to hear it.

I'm having a nice martini.

3 oz Citadelle gin
1 oz Nolly Prat vermouth
.5 oz olive brine
1 dash Fee Brothers West Indies orange bitters

Stirred in my mixing glass
Poured into chilled cocktail glass
3 olives

Probably will not be my last tonight.

Thinking of a bourbon drink next called a Boulavardier. My ratios are:

3 oz Black Maple Hills
1 oz Campari
1 oz Nolly Pratt sweet

Stir in iced mixing glass. Poor over fresh ice in a double rocks, nice slice of orange rind for garnish.

a citrusy wheat beer that smells of Tangerine - which is cool because that's my favorite citrus fruit. I've also had a yuengling and a Fat Tire amber and another Tangerine dream...it's a nice night.

About to start prepping for dinner so I forecast a little light drinking wine while cooking. I have a bottle of Murphy-Goode Sauv. Blanc ready to go for that. Dinner is going to be lightly breaded baked shrimp with a light summer salad so another white with dinner. As we're having friends over I'm going to start with something good, "The White" by Turley. It's a Rhone style blend, thinking mainly Marsanne and Roussanne but might have a touch of Viognier...too lazy to go look right now, lol.

Later on I've had a three litre cask of manhattans aging for six weeks and I think it's time to sample that with friends.

I'm in Texas, it's August, it's 105° outside, and I don't even have a glass of water in my hand. A couple of years ago, I almost got heatstroke trying that around Lake Whitney, hunting for a ghost town. At least I'm in a coffee shop now.

44. Templeton Rye Whiskey

Templeton Rye Whiskey on the rocks with a little club soda. A former co-worker told me stories of her home town, Templeton, Iowa where a particularly good rye whiskey was distilled during Prohibition. The whole town was in on the gag and covered for each other when the revenuers were around; they didn't consider making whiskey a sin and took pride in their product.

They made small batches, for friends, even after Prohibition. It was years later that the original recipe was licensed to a legal distillery and is now becoming available, and winning awards, nationwide.

Cheers!
