(12,581 posts)I won 25K about 5 years ago just in time for a week cross-country "see Grandpa before he dies" /family funeral trip. Paid off a crap load of medical bills, credit cards, fixed the car, and put 5K in a CD just in case the tax implications were unfavorable. We didn't need to, but that's still a good way of ensuring all the money doesn't get spent during that year.

(3,275 posts)I was expecting you to say that you won a hundred dollars or something. $25,000 is a lot of money. That is a years salary to many people. I would pay off some bills, put some in savings and buy myself something special.
