I just went and paid for my New Year's cruise. As I gloated a few weeks ago, I'm taking a seven day cruise to Cozumel, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica(yeah mon), and Labadee island near Haiti. Gonna spend Jan 01 on Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean. And for what is normally a $1,400.00 stateroom, I am paying, or should I say have paid, the criminally low price of, wait for it... $320.00!
Before it was a "maybe" or "can I get my vacation pay" kind of thing, but now it's a lock. I needed a break and this is just what is called for.
And I have the stateroom all to myself so maybe love is in the air. I leave from here in Fort Lauderdale so maybe I'll meet some local hunny bunny who's as crazy as me and we can do the zip line together.
Life is good.

I'm thrilled for you, and what a DEAL on the price!

(3,065 posts)I've been a good boy. And yes, the price is incredible. I would have quit my job for this trip, but I got the okey dokey from the boss, so I'm on my way.
Now I need to go clothes shopping. All I have to wear is work clothes.

(3,065 posts)For high rollers. They get free rooms at hotels and cabins on cruise ships if they gamble big. He had an extra room and offered it to me if I just paid the taxes on the stateroom. How could I say no?
I'm crazy, not stupid.

(30,947 posts)I have been on a few Caribbean cruises. But they are very fattening. There are meals and snacks served around the clock. I gained 7 pounds on a week-long cruise to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

(3,065 posts)This'll be my second cruise. In 2007 I took the Norwegian Pearl during Thanksgiving all the way to Barbados and gained eight pounds.
IMHO cruises are the funnest way to do absolutely nothing at all. Walk around the ship, relax at the pool while listening to live music, go to the shows after dinner and maybe hit the casino and try your luck. You can be catered to or left the hell alone to read and doze. And you never hear the phrase, "Are we there yet?" And it's warm in winter.
Oh, but you live in So. Fla. too, don't you? So you know that a Florida winter is about four days and 40ish degrees.
