After near 3 years of unemployment..............

I have a job, if I pass the drug test (always worried about my prescription for vicodin). Will start Tuesday, driving seniors to various places. Pay $8.75 an hour and no benefits. Last job I had the pay was over $50,000 per year. I can't find anything, I get no interviews for anything even half of what I once made.

I don't qualify for Medicaid, but I did qualify today for food stamps, $200 a month retroactive to October 5. Well with a bit of help from Mom I will be able to pay the mortgage and few other bills, until the money comes in regularly. I will also have to start paying back my student loan. That payment will be based upon my income, so that won't be too bad.

Let's just hope the drug test is okay.

Wonder if that has changed..
used to be, if you had a script, to prove it was a supervised drug, there was no problem, esp. if you tell them you will not be taking the drug during work.
Best of luck....tis a scary employment pic out there.

2 a day for the pain. If they contact me I have the right "to give them the reasons for the use of the drug, along with Doctor's prescription." Thing is I had a part time gig this summer as a shuttle driver, no drug test just ran my DL.

I'm surprised that's okay even with a prescription for a professional driver. I've never been on it, so I really don't know much about its effects.

if you take it as directed. I've no accidents or even close calls, no speeding tickets. Prescribing Doctor knew of part time driving gig, believe me she would have said something.

If you have an accident, and you are taking vicodin then its duid for you, i would not drive whilst under the influence full stop and certainly not with passengets.

The liability issues alone would be a.nightmare for a company, plus you can still be busted for duid.

You may get some pushback with the legit Rx for pain meds when your job is that of driving. Plus, don't they expect you to have a CDL license? Regardless, I hope you get it, but keep looking....

For that pay should be offering you benefits, regardless, because of the situation of wheelchair access, required license, and general responsibility.
