Spent Holidays with our daughter and family just a few miles north of Boston.
Stayed home with our grandson and granddaughter while daughter and son-in-law went to a nice Italian restaurant for a New Year's Eve supper.
Planned to stay for New Year's Day and leave on the second for the 2 1/2 day drive back home in coastal Alabama.
On Dec. 30 Miz t. said "Take a look at the weather forecasts. Maybe we should leave on the 1st."
I did.
She was right, as usual.
So we left on New Year's Day.
Almost no traffic on our drive from near Boston to southern PA, near the Maryland border.
Damn cold, but no precipitation.
Ran into some rain in VA, but not bad.
Temps above freezing.
Spent last night in Chattanooga.
Cold again, but no precip.
Home and dry.
Sunny and cold all the way home today.
High in the upper 50s tomorrow.

Audio books speed the journey.
Or at least negate the boredom.

(149,522 posts)You sure did dodge a major bullet.
It pays to 1) read the weather reports, and 2) listen to your spouse.
Happy New Year!

(26,597 posts)days (at least) in Boston, thanks to a dearth of pilots to fly us home. Actually, maybe you should have stuck around - we could have used you!
Glad you had a good safe trip...
