Another day, another ancient cavern complex: Kanheri

So, this is yet another ancient cave complex in Mumbai.

Step 1: getting there. I rode the Mumbai Suburban Rail, roughly the subway or metro.





Note the lack of doors. Count that as something that wouldn't work in the USA...



Ignore the monkeys. You're not there for them.







The stairs, however, have to be climbed.



Some places have rails



Others are just open to the elements.



This is what several of the caves look like.



Of the sculptures? I must be mute. I fancy myself a writer, but I cannot describe them with any justice. Just look.











There may be Buddhists here who can gloss these images; as it is, I was simply amazed by them.
