Cats have an uncanny ability to get themselves stuck in the silliest places. Last year, I rescued a kitten who managed to get herself permanently lodged on top of a Brooklyn rooftop; my own cat Mimosa also likes to repeatedly hop up on top of the fridge-freezer and only then remember that she cannot get down.
Over in San Francisco, a handsome gray cat recently found himself trapped on an Interstate-80 off-ramp. Naturally, he's become known as Freeway.
Freeway's misadventure saw him wedged on top of a hefty chunk of cold concrete while cars whizzed by. After noticing that the cat was seemingly stuck there over a period of days, a man who is being billed as "a commuting Good Samaritan" brought the cat's plight to the attention of the local Animal Care and Control center.

(22,893 posts)I hope he/she gets a nice, caring home. Cats that are featured in the news are often snapped up by good families.

(676 posts)I was in the left hand lane and saw an object in the center of my lane but couldn't tell what it was. I passed over it and looked in my rear view mirror and saw something run for the center median. I immediately pulled over and ran back to find a kitten, about six weeks old clinging to the fence dividing traffic. I pried it loose and put it in my car and took it home. Of course I named him Freeway and he lived a long and happy life with me.
