(14,881 posts)My poor, neglected pony is out in her barn instead of relaxing on my sofa, like she should be.

(29,414 posts)Call her inside! Video it, too, so we can see the look of incredulity on her face first at confusion, like "Where should I sit?" and then the show of affection in thanks for being so generous

(14,881 posts)They can bring HRH Princesca Dahlia into *their* living rooms to poop and pee all over the floors.
Also break anything and everything that is potentially breakable. Keeping in mind that this a mare who, as a yearling, blew through her stall door and heavy duty stall guard, splintering 2 spruce 2x4s and straightening out 2 heavy duty steel eyehooks in the process, and walked away unscathed. Also who dented the steel roof with her eyeball and suffered only a bump above her eye and a small cut below the lower eyelid. I'm not certain, but I suspect she may actually be fur-covered titanium...

(39,343 posts)When it got too cold for them in the barn (complete with space heaters), she would bring them into the house and sit up all night with them. She had a nice long hallway and would talk to them and brush them all night.
When it wasn't quite cold enough to bring them in, she would sit out in the barn with them and brush them and talk to them until the morning.
I think she would've thrown her boys out of the house and given the horses their room, but they had moved out years before this.

And I hadn't seen your thread. I'm afraid I don't peruse much of DU as often as I have in the past.

She had scars and was terrified of feet.
When she hid behind my legs I couldn't abandon her.

What people do to animals some times. Our last dog was a rescue as well, though in this case a shelter dog. She was scabby, somewhat scrawny and has obviously been mistreated. Once she warmed up to us though she was the most loving animal anyone could hope to imagine. How anyone could mistreat a dog like that I can't understand.

(36,649 posts)Pit Bulls don't have much fur to begin with, and when I let her out I need to make sure she's got it on. (She only stays out there for about 30 sec before she wants to come in, anyway.) When she comes in, she's full of snow & all wet, so I take it off her to dry. But when it's off she looks at it, then at me, then back at the sweater, then back at me. Once it's dry I can put her back in it.
Right now, she's in her sweater, snuggling under a blanket on the couch with me.

I'll have to ask some friends if they ever put their pitbull in a sweater. No snow here, but it has been plenty cold lately for us.
