My wife got her very first smart phone this weekend. She has always used a flip phone and with the last 2 flip phones she had she has been able to assign a ring to each individual on her call list. SO by hearing the ring she had an idea if not KNEW who was calling.
My wife got a Concord T Mobile phone and to get my wife more interested in the phone our 12 year old cousin put on a Doctor Who live wallpaper which is the TARDIS spinning around and moving as you move the phone.
She also put on a bunch of ringtones Doctor Who related for my wife to pick from.
So naturally my wife is exploring the phone now BUT to give people ring tones she can't and she looked at me and said "For a 'Smartphone' it really isn't smart"

(46,179 posts)the "stupid fucking phone" for 18 months now.
Why? Because the most common functions that used to be one simple push of a button on my old "dumb" flip phone now take fucking swiping, which I hate, and several "buttons," which don't work in the winter when I'm wearing gloves, because gloves don't work on the fucking "touch" screen, which doesn't recognize being touched by gloves.
That, and I had to sign up for yet another google mail account, which I don't use, but have to keep emptying all the spam emails from the inbox...
I admit that I've gotten used to some functions, and like them. The navigator, for example. I don't use it to go online, though, despite the mandatory data charge every month, because the damn screen's too small to see anything, and the damned "keyboard" is too small to key anything accurately.
