OH, forgot to mention this: My therapist wants to see about getting me a cat!

She thinks that a cat is a good thing for me. It will help to keep me calm at home. It would give me something to look after and keep occupies when I have down time. That way when I am there alone, I have something to help keep me from climbing the wall.

She also says that I can learn a lot from a cat.

She got the idea from the reports on how I reacted when the cat at the place I am staying hangs around me and how I get a little edgy when he is not.

I'm not sure how it will work out, but it would be nice to have a little friend. I have always been a dog person, but willing to give it a shot.

trained to detect and react to my changing moods!

First off, I never knew a cat could be trained! Second, a cat to care for you, not think you are only there for them.

This is going to be different!

I think that a cat can be a be a great companion, but be fore-warned about losing your freedom LFR. I hope that you find a great mew friend and that the feline thinks the same of you.

I've been owned by a few over the years, and my life is much the richer because of them. Their personalities are so interesting, and they have great senses of humor. They're tons of fun to play with, and their many compulsive rituals and routines are fascinating. And when you have a close relationship with a cat, he or she will sense when you're really down and offer you solace.

How Cats Love

You'll probably hear from folks who want you to believe that cats are self-centered, arrogant, aloof, incapable of love, etc. I pity those who don't know feline love.

Cats are good companions. You can bond very deeply with them.
BTW, cats (and dogs) understand more language than people generally give them credit for. My humble suggestion: don't feel shy about talking to them. The only thing is that they can be emotional sponges and pick up if you are sad or stressed. I am quite sure that my cats got sick because I went through a very stressful period for about two years. But that is another story.
Good luck and remember to post photos when you adopt the cat.
