Slow Motion Shots Capture Public Transit Like You've Never Seen.

The last thing some of us urbanites might want is someone getting a close-up of our face while we're waiting (most likely impatiently) for a train home in rush hour crowds. But that's exactly what Adam Magyar is doing with his series "Stainless"—and he's making us all (collectively) look artsy and awesome through slow-motion 'portraits' of public transit platforms.

Not much mass transit here. We do have an in-town and close-to-town bus system. And the train to Anchorage and all. But my question is - does no one who uses urban mass transit ever smile? Maybe converse, even just to say excuse me or hello or what a gorgeous day? I could not live in a city (can barely tolerate Anchorage).

These do not make me miss anything and, as poignant as they are, they should.

Thanks for the post. Recommended.

We do smile occasionally but most of the time I am trying to keep track of my phone and my wallet!

With the mass transit that I take here in Japan, it seems that everyone is too engrossed in their smart phones to be aware of what and who are around them.

but my big thing is the folks I get to meet. That's why I love the train ride to Anchorage and points beyond, and our Marine Highway ferry system. Everyone from every walk of life rides them and the tourists who are doing it for the first time are awesome! The Marine Highway is actually a part of our State Department of Transportation; I've overnight camped on deck on some of the longer trips. I think you'd all like the ride! Art, we were on a long motorcycle trip and went through Arkansas - it was amazingly beautiful, and the folks were just super friendly. Stayed in a little town that had (this was years go, memory isn't great) I believe opal mining nearby? Where you could "pan" them like we do here for gold? Best. Little. Diner. in that town, ever - delectable pie, super good coffee (a must) and a waitress that called us both "hon".

This is one of the Marine Highway ferries just off the Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau:

It's a little town in the southwest part of the state not too far from Bill Clinton's birthplace near Crater of Diamonds State Park where visitors can dig or "pan" for diamonds.

There are also several places in the state that are famous for quartz (at one time called "Arkansas diamonds&quot , like Mt. Ida which has a mine that produces huge quartz crystals.

By the way, I love to be called "Hon" by waitresses
