My boxer has a very sensitive tummy. I have tried many, many brands of dog food and all give her soft stools and horrid gas. Like clear the room gas.

So, we cook. The doberman mix is very happy about his sister's tummy issues. He loves watching his big pot come out and will just lay there and watch his food being made.

Been doing this for 2 years now and they are healthy, happy, and vet is happy, too. Win/Win.

Brown rice (sometimes we'll substitute barley) ground turkey, veggies: peas, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli. All cooked together in a big pot, then placed in individual serving containers and frozen until needed. Popped out of the freezers and into the microwave for supper.

Breakfast is usually some cereal mixed with plain yogurt, but occasionally my wife will fix them fried eggs.

dry dog food. It's organic and is not only nutritious, it's safe for human consumption.

Paul Newman once said with a smile that there was a problem at the factory: his employees liked eating it too.

And certain leftovers but never at the table!

I know it's high in wheat and rice product and low in things dogs are actually supposed to eat, but it's the only thing my imaginary dog will eat.

a formula for avoiding the urinary tract stones she was getting. It's helped her a lot but it's pricier than I had planned for when getting a dog.

The hardest part is the hurt look on her face when I don't give her any of my supper - she was used to getting a bit but the vet said that was the major contributing factor. I may be anthropomorphizing but I don't care. If I can make up words I can make up doggie facial expressions.

Here she is hiding behind my daughter and contemplating a leap to get my cheese.

This dog is 17 and I inherited him three years ago at the time my father died at the ripe old age of 95.

My father's personality definitely imprinted on this dog. My father was very definite in his likes and dislikes, etc., and he absolutely hated change. When the dog lived with my dad and stepmother, they cooked for him. I do not unfortunately have the time to do that. Little Cesar's is the ONLY dog food that I've found that this dog will eat. I've tried them all.

Everytime the dog goes to the vet, I cringe when I'm asked this same question. But the vet assures me that at this stage of the game, it's more important to keep the dog happy than to worry about much else.

Issue we had with my MIL before she died at the age of almost 94

She was getting meals on wheels for a few years with the most unappetizing crap in them. She couldn't have this...she couldn't have that... So they gave her what I wouldn't feed to a dog and she would never eat it. The only good thing about the program was knowing someone would be checking on her when the family couldn't

Anyway, once a month Mr Pipi and I would be in the area and we would stop in with a bunch of Chinese food that she loved. I never felt guilty, either...it wasn't like eating that stuff would take 30 years off her life or something.

I've had an assortment of dogs of every breed, size and temperament on the same diet for a few decades now.

Of course my dogs also have pet doors that allow them to go outside on the farm with us for as many hours as they like (typically 14-15 hours/24 per day).

The big male (70 lbs) gets 1 cup twice per day. The smaller female (35 lbs) gets 1/2 cup twice per day. They are fed in 12 hour intervals and if I miss their feeding time by more than 20 minutes, the male will start moving his dog bowl around to remind me.

Nothing else. This food is the best I've found. yes, it is more expensive but it's not made in china and the waste is much less.

it is the best we could afford when there were a lot of dogs here. we are down to 3 and I am about ready to upgrade, though they actually do ok on it. coats could be a little nicer, but over all not itchy or any other signs of shitty diets.

oh and whatever dead shit they drag home or eat out and about (currently a deer leg and a nasty chunk of some kind of dead animal hide in the yard)
