That were decidedly NOT for children, though i don't know if they qualify as 'adult comics' in the same sense you meant...

"Cry For Dawn" -- Joseph Linsner & Joe Monks
"Faust" -- Tim Vigil & David Quinn
"Evil Ernie" -- Brian Pulido & Steven Hughes
"Love & Rockets" -- Gilbert & Jaime Hernandez...
"The Crow" -- James O'Barr

I'm sure there's a few more...

Fell in love with most of them for their art...
Stayed for the stories.

...based on the writings of Dr. Timothy Leary.

Script by George DiCaprio, Art by Pete Von Sholly, I did the cover painting, based on Pete's design.

I also inked the panel borders and did the lettering.

Here's the wraparound cover and a coupla pages from the insides.

i`ve also have a few "x rated comics" and other underground's from the 60`s. i figured if i kept them long enough they would be worth something but alas they are not.

Black Lagoon (Imagine Quentin Tarantino doing a movie about piracy in Southeast Asia during the mid 90s. The anime adaptaion is pretty freaking awesome, too.)

Gunsmith Cats (Although there's shit in this series that made even me a little... Uncomfortable. Kenichi Sonada can be a real grade-A pervert sometimes.)

Back in 2004, though, I was briefly excited that R. Crumb had become mainstream enough to hit the New Yorker cover

Then I realized that the songs of my youth were recycling as supermarket and elevator muzak

So it didn't mean any of that stuff was cool again -- it just meant I'd officially joined the Old Foget class

I mean, tons of Manga can be termed mature, though not hentai.
Soooo, yeah, I enjoy many of that such as:

-Berserk
-Team Medical Dragon
-Ubel Blatt
-Wolfencrest - though I specifically object to the rape scene, which was gratuitous, though understandable in the sense of it showing how twisted things can be.

Western Comics:

Uhhhh... I'm not sure, but if you consider violence to be the reason it is "adult"...

Spawn and those comic books can be considered adult.
The Sandman comics can also be considered adult.

Is that it?

Well, I didn't like the ones that were violent, either.

I liked "Omaha," since face it, the ladies were sexy!

And "Freak Brothers" and some of Robert Crumb's work was simply hilarious.

I know him by reputation but not by work.

Then I would probably have to admit to Frank Cho who did Liberty Meadows.
His art work is nice...

(Usually she wore a lot less...)

The stories in the comic books were sort of soap opera-ish, but I did like them.

As to the "Freak Brothers," they did dope, (lots of it,) had sex and it was just plain silly.
The artist, Gilbert Shelton, also drew a superhero comic book called "Wonder Warthog" that was hilarious at times.

All the Bob Crumb / S. Clay Wilson / Gilbert Shelton / etc. stuff, ALL of it.

I still have MOST of my collection. During one of my moves a whole box of stuff "grew legs" and a few key issues are now gone, but I still get the desire every now and then to wade into the swamp and enjoy some classic Checkered Demon or Mr. Natural or Wonder Warthog or...
