to being scared a lot of times myself, over things being discussed in there.

Death!!!

Starvation!!!

Disaster!

We're all going to diiiieeeee!!!

Destruction!!!

And if it's not pants-shittingly scary stuff being hawked, it's a lot of over-optimistic bullshittery.

Like the whole Plamegate joy-fest where people were predicting lots of convictions ("Fitz-mas&quot and nothing much happened except for a virtual slap on the hand for Scooter Libby

It's best to take overly depressing/optimistic discussion in GD with a grain of salt. Probably 95% of it is hyperbole...

I mean, how many times did people in GD predict that an invasion of Iran was imminent during Bush's last term?

I got a good laugh out of it, because I found the book's premise to be a little far fetched.

Or hide the word Ukraine, that would do it. I've hidden so much, and always adding more.

except maybe a ban on vodka from Russia.

There's not much we can do beyond that and the chance of it escalating to directly involve us is nil. I think Motherjones called it just about right.

and otherwise saved the vodka for insomnia. But homegrown Mead brewed from local bee honey has come to replace it for the insomnia, and it's not tincture season, so I'm good.

I hope the Ukrainian people can hold it together for a few weeks until their elections. And I hope for a peaceful resolution. That's about all I can do for them.
