Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSigns of Spring: I just brushed my short haired dog for 15 minutes,
and he still has loose tufts of fur sticking up over his back legs! ( I could probably get them with a stiffer brush, but that's a tender spot)
I'm not even going to discuss the long haired dogs!

(6,011 posts)She had a very luxuriant undercoat, a medium(like a lab)outer coat and in the spring I pinched out the loose tufts that would poke out from her haunches between brushings.
I told the shoe repair guy that I liked his shop dog, a big dog that seemed mostly yellow lab, and he said she sheds like crazy when the temperature hits ~60ºF, because she's actually half Malamute.
For a long haired dog do you have to use a long bristled wire brush? I see from the reviews that people really like Furminators® but they are expensive!
Next purchase: A rubber broom, for pulling hair off of floors especially good for carpets and rugs. The bags for my vacuum cleaner aren't sold in my town, so I prefer to collect the fluff in a paper bag before vacuuming!

I think I'll hold off vacuuming until about June
