Despite its anti-science and technology bias, I've always had a secret fondness for Ralph Bakshi's 1977 animated (and rotoscoped) movie Wizards, and especially its soundtrack. I found out a few days ago that the soundtrack, with its eclectic mix of seventies' funk and small, wistful tunes, was finally released on CD last year.
It came in the post this morning and I've finally been able to enjoy listening to it after all this time.
Made my day!
Shame he made such a mess of LOTR a few years later. Ugh!

(6,261 posts)I think it was around 1997 or thereabouts. I was able to rip it and took out the audio track, so I was somewhat able to make my own soundtrack, but it still had a lot of talking over the music left in of course.
I never got the story why the soundtrack wasn't released before. I know I wasn't the only one looking.

And the final "wizard's duel" was priceless.

(6,261 posts)Possibly because it was the first time I had encountered it. It didn't work for me in LOTR, but it was possibly the least of that turkey's problems.

(12,723 posts)They went too far with Fire and Ice when they filmed actors and rotoscoped them for the main characters. Looked as bad as it sounds. Been too long since I saw LOTR to remember if it used that technique too.
