Girl Scout Cookies

Last edited Sun Mar 16, 2014, 11:51 AM - Edit history (1)

I am curious what people wanted to buy in terms of Girl Scout cookies. They have been in the news a lot lately with Tea baggers refusing to support the Girl Scouts for their policies. Now that people have bought some..what did you get, or what would you get.

Note: There are so many of them, the last choice, vote for any or all of those.

to give away, just to buck the boycott. And I told the mom at the table the reason for my purchase too. She said I was the second one to buy for that reason!

I do too. I think it's more the idea of getting cookies delivered for cheap rather than the cookies themselves. They're a holdover tradition from the age before the internet.

I just buy them b/c it's for a good cause, not because I love the cookies.

I only saw Girl Scouts selling cookies once inside the Kroger when I did not have enough cash on me.

I would have loved to have purchased some. My favorites are the Thin Mints...YuMMMMMMMMMMMMYYY!

It says they are getting ready for next season.

When I put my zip for my former address in another state, I found many, many locations.

Go figure.

The young ladies who were selling them asked me if I would like them to describe each box I bought. Each girl took turns describing Thin Mints, Do Si Do's, and Lemonades. I was thinking to myself, "If you were at my house describing these cookies, the box would be gone before you could finish your description."

Maybe they keep having to find new names for these cookies to get people interested?

There are two bakeries that make GS cookies. One calls them "Tagalongs". The other calls them "Peanutbutter Patties". I believe the one that makes Tagalongs is an Eastern-based company, whiile the other is located out West.

I live in the East. Years ago, my sister was a Girl Scout troop leader out in California. The first time Cookie Time came up, she had to read the descriptions of the cookies to me so I could order what I wanted. They're still called different names, even after a couple of decades. I guess there is not enough confusion to standardize the names of the cookies.

not "caramel delights" = Somoas
not "peanut butter sandwhich" = Do-si-dos
not "short bread" = Trefoils

Who would possibly pick Shortbread? It's so plain, every cookie needs either a cream or chocolate or something to liven it up.

Thin Mints and Caramel deLites, and only bought them for the first time recently. It was for a good cause, it spited a bunch of mean-spirited right wingers, and the cookies are decent and make good gifts. Especially to mean spirited right wingers, who turn the most hilarious shade of purple.

What's not to love?
