The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI'm being really bad today. Just a total sloth. Can't get myself to do anything.
My dogs are getting pissed at me. I can't blame them. Every so often they run over and try to wake me from my lethargy with wet kisses and lots of excitement. Then they give up and go back to bed to sleep some more.
I had good intentions today, and no reason not to get moving. I just don't want to. Haven't wanted to for weeks.
I'm enjoying my slothiness to much. I am a total sloth. Zero ambition. Going with the flow is one thing. Dead in the water is quite another, though...

(53,339 posts)But thinking about it wore me out.

(14,881 posts)I was thinking about that, too. But get up out of my chair?
I did finally get up to go take care of Dahli, so the boys had a half hour of running around the pasture. Now I know why my butt is plastered to the chair. I thought the wind had died down, but it just shifted direction. It's friggin' freezing out there, much colder than this morning. Gah. There was a slight melt and refreeze, so everything is glare ice again.
We'll head back out in an hour or so to put on her extra blanket and tuck her in. It's supposed to be low single digits tonight. I didn't believe it this morning. Now I believe it.

(14,881 posts)1 more course, and I'm finished. Just one more. I'm looking through them now, trying to pick one that looks "easy." These are the easiest looking ones...
blastoid variant of mantle cell leukemia
EBV-associated lymphoproliferative disorders in an immunocompromised host
Hematopoietic disorders associated with downs syndrome
lymphomatoid granulomatosis
malignant lymphoma with features of hyaline vascular
eeny, meeny, miny, moe...
But once I finish one more 2-pointer, I can re-certify for 3 years. That takes me past retirement age. This is it. Never ever again!

(14,881 posts)Transcripts printed -- they look very pretty and official. Done. I googled a couple diseases and determined that #2 and #4 would be similar topics. Down Syndrome I suspected would be the easiest, though I'm not sure why. I was afraid it would get into bone marrow biopsies, and I look at those and just see a bunch of stuff, lol. but it didn't. it was mostly genetic mutations and cell markers, clinical symptoms and cell morphology by description only, so I didn't have to recognize blebbing, whatever the fuck that is, lol.
Unpronounceable words is a big part of the game. That and then never-ending acronyms. On my earlier course, I got so confused I had to cntl find the acronym and follow it back to its first appearance because I had missed its actual name or forgot it before I finished the reading.
I'm DONE!!!!!! I'm getting D R U N K on Lavender Mead RIGHT THIS MINUTE!!!!!

(115,623 posts)Of all the deadly sins, sloth is the one that I commit the most. A little gluttony now and then but the rest of them are too much work.

(14,881 posts)23 1/2 hours out of a 24 hour day?
But yes, my slothdom helps save me from gluttony. I used to make big Sunday breakfasts, but now I usually just make my normal oatmeal/nuts/fruit because anything else is too much work and too much to think about...

(115,623 posts)they are pretty fast. Sloths are so slow and slothful even when they are awake that algae grows in their fur. That might explain it.
I have not found any algae growing on me. Yet.

(14,881 posts)big.
I had completed one course this afternoon. I was able to browbeat myself into completing a 2nd one. And tonight I finished the 3rd -- and final -- one. I've completed my continuing education credits required to re-certify in MLT. I had hoped to finish by the end of March, but was ready for it to take much longer. Instead, I got done 2 weeks early! And now I can party...or at least nap extra in coming weeks

(10,095 posts)I have done nothing this weekend besides walk to the urgent care clinic to find out I only have a cold, I can't believe that is all it is and I didn't get a script, it has wiped me out. I did manage to walk for a cappuccino today and even the espresso didn't give me any energy.
Peace
