Hot Dogs - Yummie? or Yuck?

An article to answer all your questions about the origins of the hot dog, it's good side/bad side, veggie dogs and all others mysteries of the great American hot dog. I don't care, an occasional dog , Chicago Style with all the crap piled on it is still OK with me - and who can forget a dog roasted over a campfire till it was black charred. Good memories.

That brought back memories. Haven't been to a Costco in years, they aren't around here, but the big dog, coke, and pretzel made a great lunch. Sam's had the same, I believe.

I would not eat hot dogs. They contain all the scraps from the slaughter house floor.

where they have the dogs made for them by a local butcher and fry them. Just cooked is the newbies way-- aficionados want the Ripper, where the dog is burst open a bit. Some may want the Cremated, but they ask you twice before they give you one.

And the mustard...

It's worth the trip to Joisey.

you could see the Oscar Meyer plant from our back yard. Our next door neighbor Mr. Moss worked in the plant making hot dogs. His family would occasionally come to our house for a back yard cook out. Whenever we offered him a grilled hot dog he would look ill. He said you could not pay him enough to eat a hot dog.

One of my fondest cook out memories as a kid was the grilled bratwurst. The bratwurst in Wisconsin were supreme back in those days.

Pork or Beef...because of allergic reaction but... I love Turkey Dogs and Chicken dogs sometimes too especially with Chili and a tiny bit of cheese. I also like sour kraut on a bun with Turkey Dogs as well.

. I love 'em - grilled, boiled, microwaved, raw...it don't matter. Kraut and mustard and/or relish is my usual but I LOVE a full-on Chicago dog. There's a few places down here that make 'em right. And Sonic has a pretzel dog with cheese and bacon that works real good for me. Real good.

We also sometimes just make chili dogs with Hormel (no beans) chili. Slop 'em up so you gotta eat it with a fork.

I used to love Oscar Mayer but they changed something a while back and and I don't know what it was but they taste funny now. Don't like 'em at all.
