Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumsit's creepy how much time my animals spend watching me.
My border collie has been standing by my desk staring right at me for 40 minutes now. What? Why? I guess he's waiting to see if I have anything to eat.
My little tabby cat sits on my lap or shoulder and stares, stares, stares at me.
I guess they don't bore easily.

(5,946 posts)They control animals by giving them the look. I knew when my BC stared at me she wanted something, but I was so slow on the take up - she would
1) empty water bowl lead me to the kitchen and bang her nose on the bottom of the water dish then look at me accusedly.
2) empty food bowl (not angled so it could not be lifted) would bring the empty dish in the room and hit me with it.
3) wanted to go out - learned to say ooooouuwt
4) wanted to go back home when we visited some one - stand by the front door and say Hooooowwwwmmme
5) get a cookie - come up to me and say Hellooooooww
She never cried or complained, but would comfort anyone who was sad by putting a paw on their knee and staring into their eyes, which is why so many people borrowed her when there was a death in the family.

(5,946 posts)this one is a brainless wonder, although I think she is trying to talk finally after 8 years. She is a squirrel hunting dog that was very scared of me when I got her, would not look me in the eye or allow me to pet her, I worked for those pet rights. Sneaking up when she was sleeping and massaging her softly for 3 months. Now I have the most hug demanding loving dog in the world, still not very bright, take s long time to learn anything but makes it up with all the loving she gives. And when I had mice get into the house, she hunted them down and killed the quickly and humanely unlike a cat. And then she gave them to me as a gift. She has learned that if she stares long enough I will see her, but then she moves in for a hug before leading me to what she wants.
Hug = coming close to me while I am sitting or laying, laying her head on my chest then throwing her paws around me and leaning in hard.
